  1. I have had foot problems my whole life. Over the past few years it has gotten to be a real problem for me. I work in manufacturing, and I am on my feet 10 hours a day. Constantly walking and standing. I have a small bone or heel spur on my left foot. It is literally making my life a living hell. Can you suggest a shoe or some shoe/ shoe insert that could help me?? I am literally and utterly disparate!

    • Rebecca, I was not sure if your received my email so I am responding here.
We have a variety of brands built for comfort and structure that will accommodate all types of foot issues. It is difficult to suggest certain types of footwear with out evaluating your feet. We will do a variety of things to evaluate your feet and address the problems you are having. We also have plenty of items that can help relieve help spurs.

  2. I just wanted to let you know about our race in case you have a bulletin board or race schedule that you keep. Its called The Energy City Half Marathon 5k/10k in Midland on 3-28-15. If you do have a bulletin board I can send you a poster.

  3. Do you have any repair shops that can build up a shoe as I have one leg shorter than the other and it makes finding walking/running shoes a real ordeal. I can get all my boots done, but question if you can cut a walking shoe and add height. Thanks

  4. I was wanting to find a good pair of brooks but didn’t know which ones would be best. I have not bought shoes in several years just wondering if yall charge to fit which shoe is best for me.

    • Shelah,
We do not charge for gait analysis or simple foot analysis. We carry a variety of Brooks for all foot types and widths if you should need it. Our hours are 9-7 Monday thru Friday and 9-5 on Saturday. We look forward to seeing you.

  5. I would like some information on the Foot Tech spa. Services offered, days offered and prices. Love your store!

    Thank you!

  6. Are y’all open on Memorial Day I called and no one answered. there was no message to indicate that you were closed

    • No I am sorry but we were not open. We are not sure why the answering machine did not pick up but we appreciate you letting us know so we can fix the problem. We are extending the sale we were running Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Hope to see you soon.

  7. I previously lived in Lubbock and believe it was Foot Tech (previously located on 34th Street) where I purchased arch inserts that fit nicely in small women’s shoes (flats and heels). The purchase would have been in 2009. I will be visiting Lubbock later this month (June 28th – July 4th) and would like to purchase these and/or look for similar alternatives. I can send a picture of the arch supports I have now. The product number and company name on the bottom of the insert is somewhat still visible.

    • Traci,

We do not have records from that long ago but we carry 4 or 5 different orthoticsthat should fit your needs. We are in a new location located near 149th and Quaker. We look forward to seeing you.

  8. I am an overweight 50+ year old male who is trying to walk 2-3 miles a day 5 or 6 times a week. I have been buying fairly high priced (in my opinion) athletic shoes that break down after 3-4 months. Is this normal or should I be able to expect more time out of shoes?

    • The average time in a standard athletic shoe is 600 miles, so about 5 months would be the average. In a minimal (light weight , no structure) shoe the average mileage is 300. As far as the expense is concerned, there are some really good shoes shoes on the market. You should have an analysis done so that you know which type of shoe is best suited for your activity level and your specific gait. Finding the right shoe for your foot type will make it more comfortable in the long run. If we can answer anymore questions please feel free to contact us at 806-799-1122.

  9. Do you carry diabetic dress/casual shoes for women? Most of the diabetic shoes I have seen are not very pretty. My feet have really started hurting with regular shoes so I need something more comfortable.

    • We carry a few shoes that are diabetic rated and a variety that are suitable (wide toe boxes and no irritation footbeds etc.). Most of the brands we carry are comfort oriented but still stylish. We can also do a visual foot and gait analysis to determine which styles would be most suitable for your type of foot.

  10. I have very thick toenails and my big toenails tend to grow into my skin at the corners. I also have poor circulation in my feet and have psoriasis on the inside of each of my heels. I have been getting pedicures lately because I am unable to cut my toe nails any more. I have not been really satisfied with any I have received. I have tried several salons. The techs are always Vietnamese and I can’t seem to make them understand all my issues. Also, it seems that any socks I wear the toe seams always bother me to the point of being painful after a few hours of wear. So, I you all help me?

    • June,

I am forwarding your request to our spa manager Arlene Spearman who is a certified Medical Nail Technician. She works with all kinds of foot issues and I am positive she can help you. We also carry seamless socks that should help with the irritation. The FootSpa telephone # is 806-799-1161 if you would like to contact Arlene directly.

      Happy New Year,

  11. I just wanted to write and say thank you for the experience at your store yesterday. It is truly a model others should follow when it comes to knowledge and customer service. I worked in retail for 10 years and was very happy! I recently became serious about my running and wanted to get properly fit for the running shoes I needed. And that’s exactly what I got. Tarik was a fantastic salesman and answered all my questions. I never felt pushed to buy a certain brand or shoe. He made the recommendations and I chose not one but two pairs and some socks to get me going. I took my Asics Nimbus 17s for a test drive this morning and not only loved them, but shattered my 4-mile time. Thank you for a great experience again, Tarik and I can’t wait to come back in for some more in a few months!

    Happy Running,

    • Travis,

Sorry for the late response but I was out of the store until today.
We are so pleased that your experience here at Foottech was just that….”an experience”! We truly strive to train all of our employees on product knowledge and pairing the right shoe to not only the type of foot the runner, walker or just everyday wearer has, but to meet their personal fitness goals. It sounds like you are exceeding your goals! Thank you for sharing. Run On and Run Happy! We’ve got your feet Covered at Foottech!

    • Tasha,

I emailed you exercises for plantar fasciitis and a few other suggestions.
The achilles is a different issue. It is hard know what is going on without actually seeing your foot and achilles. If your achilles is injured it would be different than if you pronate and the achilles looks crooked from the back. I hope that helps. Please feel free to contact us with questions or concerns.

  14. Hi! I am coming to your city in mid May for the NJCAA Track and Field Championships. I will also be running 26.2 miles while I am in town – I am running a marathon in all 50 states and this is my opportunity to check Texas off the list! Looking for some information…are there running routes, trails, or course maps from other races I may use? Do you sell Run Texas shirts or some shirt I can wear to prove I did it? Have any suggestions on where to eat? I am coming out from Maryland and this will be my 25th marathon and 16th state! Thanks for your help!

    • Meghan,
I can put you in contact with some of the race directors for course maps that will help you with your goal! I will email you this afternoon with some more information. We do have run Texas shirts available for purchase and Texas 26.2 stickers as well. We have a local that has done the same thing you are doing now. This link will (should) take you to an article on him here.

We also offer a group run on Saturday mornings at 6:00 am and 7:30 am. if you would like to join us. If you have any other question please feel free to contact us 806-799-1122.

  15. I am having a miserable time with ankle pain. Have ruled out (by doctor) fractures, gout and blood clot. I really think now it is my shoes. I know I need an insert because I used one at one point. However, I have a bad knee on the same side as the “now” bad ankle. Can you help me? I have recently been wearing RYKA BRAND shoes because they seem to be helping to some degree, but I think it would be better to consult with someone who can fit shoes properly and help me with orthotics as well.

    • We can do a gait analysis for you and ask some key questions to help you find the right shoe and orthotics if they are necessary. Our staff is well trained and familiar with the support features in all of the brands we carry. I feel confident we can help you find a shoe that will give you some relief. If you have more questions before coming in please give us a call at 806-799-1122. I am usually at the store everyday and would love to help you myself so please do not hesitate to ask for me.
Relief of chronic foot, ankle and knee pain is our goal at footTech.

    • Bill,

We carry mens’ dress shoes in wides and some extra wides. I am not sure what about the minimalist aspect?
We do carry the Altra Instinct Everyday and Olukai that would be a more dress/casual style that would be fairly minimal. The
dress shoe brands we carry are Johnston and Murphy, Drew, Clarks, Keen and Merrell.

      Angie Wilkins

  17. I was in last week and we told you would be getting in new shoes/sizes in this week. Have you the Brooks Men’s Cascadia 11 or Altra longpeak 3 in stock yet?

    • Michael,
Sorry about the late response but I did not receive an alert of your message. We do have the Lonepeak but not the Cascadia.

  18. My daughter has bad shin splints. Her doctor recommended your store for good shoes for her. Can you give me approximate price range on these? Thank you

    • We can do a gait analysis and recommend shoes for her. The price range is from $100.00 to $150.00. We do have some shoes on clearance also. We carry a variety of compression for shin splints as well. It would be a good idea to bring the shoes she currently runs in so we can check the wear pattern as well.
      Angie Wilkins

  19. I am in search of a cross country racer for my daughter. I’ve read on line about getting the right shoe for her gait and such. Is this a store that has people who are trained and can help her with all that stuff? I will have to travel over 2 hours to visit your store, so I’m just trying to make sure that she will be able to get the help needed to ensure we leave with the correct shoe before I travel there. Thank you!

    • Rachel,

Yes we do a gait analysis and help put them in the right type of shoe. All of the staff is trained in analysis and shoe types and technology. We also address any past or present injuries that can pose an issue. We look forward to seeing you.

      Angie Wilkins

  20. Can you check gait? I need to find out what type of shoes I need and gear for running 5k & 10k. I also need to figure out how to train properly for a half marathon.

    • Brittany,
We do a full gait analysis and if you bring your current running shoes with you we can take a look at the wear pattern as well. We have a running coach here a few days a week but all staff members can help you find a training plan. We also offer group runs on Saturday mornings where you can meet other runners and pick their brains as well. The group runs have a 6:00am and a 7:30am start. We have drink and breakfast bars and do a raffle every week. In addition to the weekly raffle, weekly tickets are accumulated and we raffle a $120.00 Gift Card every 10 weeks. 21. Good Morning,
I am wanting to bring my mom in to have some shoes fitted for her. She has a terrible time trying to find shoes that don’t hurt her (she has some bone and nerve issues). Do I need to set up an appointment time for us to come in and do this?

    • Courtney,
There is no need to make an appointment. Our staff can help her find a pair of shoes that should provide her with some relief for her foot issues.
      We will see you soon.

    • Tammy,

I will email you the stretches. Be diligent and patient with the stretching. It can take up to 6 months to get rid of.

  24. We have a diabetes support group that meets the third Thursday of the month at 6:30pm and they would love to have someone come speak to them about shoes. How to pick good ones and things like that. Is that anything you would be willing to do.

    • Christie,
We would love to come out and talk to them. We also have a Foot Spa that has a medical nail technician that is licensed to do pedicures for diabetics. She also does a complete foot evaluation and can alert them to any issues or things they need to keep an eye on. My email is feel free to contact me on that email address.

    Thanks, Keith (512)563-7442

    • Keith

  26. My daughter is an avid runner. She runs 3-10 miles a day. She has ALWAYS run in brooks. Unfortunately, she’s 10 years old and wears a 3.5 in brooks. These aren’t made anymore, as you know. I looked up the best 2017 running shoes and am looking for the Saucony Kids’ Grade School Zealot 2 Running Shoes. Do you carry this shoe or can you order it? Thanks!

    • Sarah,

Good news is that a child’s 3.5 is the same as a women’s 5 or 5.5 which we carry in both Brooks and Saucony.
The Saucony kids Zealot does not exactly have the same type of cushioning the adult shoes have. Was your daughter
running in the Pureflow or the GTS Brooks?

      Angie Wilkins

  27. Hi,
My name is Amy. My 9 year old is having problems with his feet. His doctor thinks he has planters fasciitis. He wears a boy’s size 5.5, do you have children’s shoes available?

      • Amy,

We do have a few children’s shoes that have some posting that could help. We can do a gait analysis and see if he could use supports as well. We have a variety of items to help with plantar fasciitis. No need for an appointment just come on in. Thank you for letting us know about the Dr. recommendation.
We are very appreciative of the confidence they have in our team.
We look forward to helping you.

        Angie Wilkins

  28. I have a pronated ankle. What kind of shoes would be best for this problem? Do you carry any braces that might help?

    • Donna,

We carry multiple brands that have pronation control. They range from mild control to maximum control. We do a gait analysis to help find the appropriate support. There are also different types of braces and supports which could offer some extra support if needed. Feel free to contact us with any questions or come on in! We look forward to helping you.

      Angie Wilkins

  29. Heel pain, every time I run the inside of my heels hurt so bad .. what do suggest I do and would I need to make an appointment?

    • Courtney,
We would need to do an evaluation on your gait and feet before we can help guide you in making a decision to help. There is no need to make an appointment but do bring your running shoes with you when you come.

      Angie Wilkins

  30. Hi,

  33. Hi. I purchased a pair of Brooks Ariel last year after having foot surgery. It is time to buy another pair but the information is not readable. I live in New Mexico. Do you keep purchaser’s information in your computer. I cannot remember if you had an email list for sending information out to purchasers. If you do not, I believe I need a size 10 D womens. Do you have that in stock?
Next, I was told that you carry women’s shoes that are a little bit dressier. If so, do you have a place on your website that I can view them?

    Thank you!!

    • Kay,
We do carry casual and dress type footwear as well, unfortunately they are not on our website. The brands we carry are Earth, Clarks, Alegria, Vionic and Dansko. Our computer shows that you purchased a 10D Ariel in December. We do have it in stock. You can contact us if you would like us to ship it to you or hold it in store until you can make it in. 806-799-1122. We will be closed Sunday and Monday.

  34. I was visiting Lubbock this summer and came in to your store to get some items for my father in law. I was impressed with your staff and shoes and my wife and I came in the next day for an analysis. Angela helped me. I had taken a bad fall in December and torn my patellar tendon. I had surgery and had successfully gone through physical therapy but was still not feeling right. Angela quickly diagnosed I was rolling my foot to the outside and suggested two different sets of corrective athletic shoes. I initially balked at paying over 250.00 for 2 pairs of shoes but I could tell the difference right away. I have been wearing them a little over 2 months and my gait is much better and my leg feels normal again. My colleagues at work have all commented that I am walking normally again and I can now even go up stairs at a brisk pace. I feel like myself again…who would have thought shoes would make such a difference!
My questions is do you have dress shoes and maybe hiking boots with the same corrective sole?

    • Robert,

I am so glad to hear that the shoes are working well for you! It is nice to hear that you feel like you are walking normal again.
We have the Clarks Charton (dress casual) which I think would be a good choice and the Keen Targhee hiking boot or shoe that are waterproof as well. Thank you so much for your business.

I look forward to working with you again!

      Angie Wilkins

  35. Do you have any of the Brooks Ghost 7 women’s running shoe? I know Brooks now has the Ghost 9, but I really like the 7.
Zach at Mountain Hideaway suggested I contact you about shoes that are similar to Birkenstock. I have a hard time finding any other shoe that has the medial arch support like Birkenstock (classic footbed).
    Thanks so much!

    • No ma’am we do not have any of the Ghost 7.
We carry Alegria, Dansko, Earth and Vionic which all have orthotic type footbeds or removable footbeds so other orthotics can be added.

      Thank you,
      Angie Wilkins

  36. I am a chiropractor and currently fit orthotics for patients from time to time. I am possibly looking for another company to use for this service. Are custom orthotics something you do? If so, what is the process to be set up as a provider with you?

    • We do not offer custom orthotics. We have a huge selection of over the counter orthotics including heat moldable but we are strictly retail. The are a number of Chiropractors Podiatrist and Pedorthist in Lubbock that offer customs. Feel free to send more information on your services to Attention Angie Wilkins

  37. My name is Christie Hust and I host a diabetes support group monthly here in Lubbock. They have requested foot care as a topic and I am in search of a speaker. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30pm. Is there anyone in your group who would be willing to come and speak to our small group regarding diabetes and the foot? I am scheduling for 2018 and can be flexible with dates at this time. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  38. Hello! I have a couple questions, firstly will you be open New Year’s Day? And secondly do you do gait analysis and such for running shoes?

    • Cheyanna,

We do a gait analysis for all of our footwear. It is always a good idea to bring your current footwear with you.
We will not be open New Years Day but we are open this Saturday 9-5. Our regular store hours are 9-7 Monday through Friday and 9-5 Saturday’s.

      Angie Wilkins

    • Yes Gena an appointment is required. The Spa’s number is 806-799-1161. They do not answer if they are all with clients so please leave them a message.

      Angie Wilkins

  39. We brought shoes there around November for my son after his foot surgery, I notice that the he is wearing down the heel of the shoe from the foot he had surgery. Would you have any suggests what I can do.

    • Veronica,
We could take a look at the shoe and evaluate the wear pattern to see what is going on. It is just to hard to say without knowing exactly what is going on with the foot that had surgery and looking at the shoe. Please feel free to bring him in with the shoes and we can take a look and try to come up with a solution.

      Angie Wilkins

  40. Today I purchased the Hoka Arahi in a size 5.5. Geoffrey was wonderful in helping me make my selection. I think that he pulled out all of my size in walking shoes! Thanks for employing such personable folks and training your employees to know which shoes will best fit the customer needs. Not living in the Lubbock area, I know that I can call and place an order.

    • Ahnise,

Thank you so much! We appreciate your business and so glad we could help you find the right shoe for your individual needs.
When you are ready for new ones just give us a call and we will be happy to send them to you.

  41. Hi. Do you have ASICS Gel Nimbus 20 women’s size 9 in Indigo Blue/Indigo Blue/Opal Green. I previously bought Gel Nimbus 19 and they run small. ASICS states they revamped the fitting on the 20’s ; I’d like to try size 9 in that color if you have them. Also, can you please email a copy of the plantar fascitis stretches? Thank you!!!

    • Mary,

I do have the 20 in a 9 in the Indigo. They did make some changes to the upper so the fit is different. I just email you the sheet for stretching.

      Angie Wilkins

    • No ma’am not at the moment. They are updating the Bondi and stock is low everywhere. I would suggest trying the Hoka website to see if there is any color available in an 8.5.

  43. My 16 year old son has lived in Vans which offer no support. He’s also in Football and has sprained both ankles last year. One pretty bad, one minor. I keep telling him the importance of lacing and tie properly.
I’m going to bring him to your stor so we can find a proper fitting shoe with good support.
Do you sell cleats at all?

    Thank you,

    • Laurie,

I hope you received my email about your son. Just in case you did not……
We do not carry any cleats but we can add support if needed to the cleats just bring them with you.
As far as the shoes are concerned we will do a gait analysis and find the appropriate support for him.

      Angie Wilkins

    • David,

  44. What is your return policy? I do not live in Lubbock but purchase my shoes at your store. I bought a pair of Brooks 2018. They are the same size as my last pairs of the same brand/style but fit differently. I was able to try them on in the store but after wearing them for 2 weeks they do not fit the same and are uncomfortable.

Please let me know what you think about an exchange.

  45. I am overweight but trying to work on it. I try to walk on average of 10-12 miles a week. I know there are several factors to consider relating to shoes but durability is getting to be an issue. I hate to spend good money on shoes just to have them break down after 3-4 months. Is this the norm? Is there something that would be more durable for someone like me? Thank you.

    • Todd,

There are many factors we use to determine what type of shoe we put a customer in. Wight can certainly cause a shoe to breakdown quickly but there are other reasons as well. The shoes need to be the proper type of support for the foot and the right size or the wear patterns can breakdown much quicker. Most shoes are made to get a certain mileage and that is about 600 miles. If you are wearing them just for exercise only it does prolong the life of the shoe. On average we suggest to change after 600 miles or 6 to 8 months. We have a sale rack that we rotate our stock to as the colors and styles are updated and usually you can find something there. With the weight loss and regular exercise we suggest getting a gait analysis done each time as muscle tone and weight will cause changes. You can give us a call 806-799-1122 for more information. Gait analysis is no charge and can be critical in keeping you injury free.

  46. Last week on 11/23, I purchased a pair of Altra shoes from Gavina (transaction #12) for $140.73. Initially, the shoes felt great but as I continued wearing them, I realized that the left shoe was irritating the bone on the outside of my big toe, making it impossible to keep wearing them.
I live in Austin but will be back to Lubbock before Christmas. Would it be possible for me to exchange the Altras for a different shoe and apply the $140.73 to a different shoe style or brand?

    • Gary,

So sorry to hear that the Altra’s did not work for you. We can certainly switch them out for you when you come back to Lubbock. We will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We look forward to working with you again.
